I'd like to thank you from the
bottom of my heart for this site. I am the daughter of
another "DeSoto County Legend" E.E. "Ebie" Dyal. I
cannot express in words what Desoto County means to me in my
heart. I was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and
Corky Coker is the reason I sing gospel music today. He
influenced me in a way that I cannot explain. I am a
1986 Graduate of DeSoto County High School and now live in
Deer Lodge, Morgan County, Tennessee where I am a licensed
Real Estate Agent. I visit Arcadia a couple times every
year because I cannot get it out of my heart. My
brother, Keith Dyal, is a familiar face at the Post Office in
Arcadia as is my little brother, Tim Dyal, of TC Dyal
Construction of Arcadia. Again - thanks for the site and
God Bless....Ann Dyal

- After spending from 1970 to 1978 in
Arcadia with very interesting memories of several historic
locations, I am planning a trip back to "Cow Town" for my
class reunion. Might want to snoop around a site or two. The
impressions left from the Past are a beacon for the Future.

- Looking forward to the museum. I am
trying to locate the site of the WWII servicemen's center on
Main Street, Arcadia. Anyone know which building? Thanks.
Duane
- Hey everybody! I was just looking
around for information about DeSoto County (I once lived
there) and came across this site. Great help! Thanks!

- I must admit that I found this site by
mistake, but this is a great site! I wish more people would
invest their time to build sites like this one. Thank you.

- Excellent website. Reader friendly and
easy on well-used eyes. Question: Who was Joshua Creek named
to honor? Any information on Thomas Bradford Cason
(1862-1936), son of Dennis M Cason, especially burial site.
Thanks. Elizabeth Walker, Sebring,
FL
- Your web pages make a Florida Cracker
proud to be from DeSoto County. E. Coleman

- Great job! Looks awesome. Bill Sullivan, American Red
Cross
- This website is wonderful! I'm looking
for information on the origin of "Waldron's Landing". Years
ago, my grandmother, Martha Waldron, told me that I was
related to the original Waldrons of DeSoto County, and I would
love to correspond with someone who might have some additional
information on this subject. Shirley
(Waldron) Moore, Arcadia
- I was writing because my father said he
was born and raised in Arcadia. He was born August 4, 1910 to
Dr. John A. Simmons, Sr. I never met him, he supposedly died
the year I was born. My dad, James Dibrell Simmons, Sr., said
his dad was a surgeon and he and his wife helped a hospital in
Arcadia in the early 1900's. We finally have the kids out of
the house and have an opportunity to check things out. Let me
know if you find out anything. Dee Simmons

- Thanks, I needed this! What a
beautiful, informative and inspiring website. It made me proud
to be an Arcadian all over again. Kudos to Ms. Katie also. As
an added note, I joined the DCHS today. Thanks! Harry Evers, DeSoto County Sheriff's
Office
- Jack and Clel Shore are my parents. My
last visit to Arcadia was Easter, 2005. My family enjoyed a
most welcomed reunion at that time. I took special interest in
the wonderful antiquing in downtown Arcadia, and returned to
New Jersey with some special treasures. David

- I was born in Arcadia and attended
Memorial Grammar School until my family moved after 6th grade
in 1957. I actually recognized sites downtown. Arcadia will
always hold a warm spot in my heart. It is my HOMETOWN. Keep
up the good work. Our history is our
foundation. Mildred Salter Kelley,
Georgia
- Very nice website! I'm Clellie
Shore's nephew. I'll be back to see more pictures later!

- Wonderfully informative and fun site to
visit. I fully intend to join the society as I believe we must
record and preserve our history, not only for ourselves, but
also for future generations. Teri

- It's
really great to see that a portion of DeSoto County's rich
history and heritage is now available in cyberspace. I'm
hoping many former residents will find and enjoy this site and
will record their thoughts and memories here. As a charter
member of the DeSoto County Historical Society and past
president, I'm very proud of the accomplishments and progress
of this organization. I've met many wonderful people and
learned much since our founding over 20 years ago and am proud
to be part of this friendly community. The website has a great
design and is easy to navigate and the information and
photographs compliment the site greatly. I enjoyed Clel
Shore's story on Genie Martin and look forward to many more
articles of historical nature. Thanks, everyone, for making
this a successful and fun endeavor. Luke
Wilson, Arcadia

website. I enjoyed the article on Genie Martin. It is always
nice to go back to First Presbyterian church and see the
